Last updated: May 1, 2026PILLAR is a United States-based AI platform for exploring Christian theology. We collect the minimum information needed to operate the Service. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your conversations to train AI models. You can delete your account at any time by emailing support@askpillar.ai.
1. Who We Are
PILLAR Guidance, Inc. is a Delaware corporation (File Number 10574478) with its registered office at 16192 Coastal Highway, Lewes, Delaware 19958 ("PILLAR," "we," "us," "our"). Contact: support@askpillar.ai.
2. Scope
2.1 This Policy applies to the service at https://askpillar.ai (the "Service").
2.2 The Service is offered only to residents of the United States. Do not use the Service from outside the United States.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information you provide: name, email address, church affiliation (if any), age confirmation (13 or older), the content of your conversations, and any feedback or support messages you send us.
3.2 Information collected automatically: basic technical information for security and operations, including browser type, operating system, IP address, session cookies, and log information.
3.3 Sensitive personal information and religious beliefs. Under U.S. state privacy laws, information about religious or philosophical beliefs is treated as "sensitive personal information." PILLAR is a Christian theology platform. Operating the core Service inherently involves processing sensitive personal information about your religious beliefs.
3.4 Consent. By creating an account, you provide affirmative, opt-in consent for PILLAR to process your sensitive personal information for the limited purposes strictly necessary to operate the Service: specifically, to generate AI responses to your religious and theological questions, to route those messages through our AI infrastructure, and to respond to you. Consent is captured at signup via a dedicated, unbundled checkbox, separate from general terms acceptance, and logged with a timestamp. We do not use your sensitive personal information for any purpose beyond operating the Service you requested. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
3.5 Right to limit. You may instruct us to further limit our use of your sensitive personal information by emailing support@askpillar.ai. We also honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as a valid opt-out request for applicable rights.
3.6 Information we do not collect: credit card or payment card data; Protected Health Information regulated by HIPAA; precise geolocation data; biometric data; Social Security numbers or government identifiers.
4. How We Use Information
4.1 We use information to (a) provide and operate the Service; (b) generate AI responses to your messages through our AI infrastructure; (c) conduct limited human review for safety and quality in the specific circumstances described in Section 4.2; (d) respond to support requests and send transactional messages; (e) protect the Service and users from fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and (f) comply with law and enforce our Terms.
4.2 Limited human review. Our staff has technical access to conversation data. As a matter of policy, our staff reviews individual conversations only when (i) a conversation is flagged by an automated safety system; (ii) you submit a support request or feedback about the conversation; (iii) we are investigating a suspected violation of our Terms; (iv) we are responding to a legal request or safety emergency; or (v) we are conducting periodic aggregate quality review on a random, de-identified sample. We do not routinely browse individual conversations. Staff review is conducted under written confidentiality obligations and access controls.
4.3 We do not use your conversations to train AI models. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not share your personal information with advertisers.
5. Retention
5.1 Conversation content and audit logs: up to 90 days, then automatically deleted.
5.2 Error logs: up to 30 days, then automatically deleted.
5.3 Account information: retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days after you delete your account.
5.4 Support correspondence: up to 24 months from the last exchange.
5.5 Backups: deleted records may persist for a short recovery window, then overwritten.
5.6 Legal hold and safety preservation. If data becomes relevant to litigation, investigation, subpoena, or credible threat of legal action, we may preserve the data until the hold is lifted. Any conversation flagged by an automated safety system or involving a crisis event is preserved for up to 13 months in an access-controlled environment, reviewed only under the limited circumstances in Section 4.2, and de-identified or deleted at the end of the preservation period unless a legal hold applies. Legal holds and safety preservation override Sections 5.1 through 5.5.
6. Sharing
6.1 We share information only with:
(a) Service providers for hosting, database, authentication, AI model inference, transactional email, customer support, and infrastructure services, bound by written agreements that restrict use of information to providing services to PILLAR.
(b) Legal and safety recipients when required by law, court order, or subpoena, or when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of any person.
(c) Acquirers in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
6.2 We do not sell personal information. We have not sold personal information in the past 12 months. We do not disclose individual conversation content to any partner church or third party other than as stated in this Section 6.
7. AI Processing
7.1 Your conversations are processed by third-party AI infrastructure to generate responses. We do not use your conversations to train AI models. Our agreements with our AI infrastructure providers prohibit the use of your conversation content to train their models. We retain written confirmation of these terms and review them on an ongoing basis.
7.2 The specific models, providers, routing, and architecture of the Service are PILLAR's confidential and proprietary information and trade secrets, and are not publicly disclosed. Third-party foundation models used by PILLAR are developed and trained by their respective providers, who are responsible for their own training data disclosures under applicable law.
8. Your Rights
8.1 You may (a) request a general description of the personal information we hold about you; (b) request correction of inaccurate information; (c) request deletion of your account and personal information; (d) limit our use of your sensitive personal information; (e) object to processing for non-essential purposes; and (f) opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share).
8.2 To exercise any right, email support@askpillar.ai from the email address on your account. We verify identity and respond within 45 days, with an additional 45 days for complex requests.
8.3 Residents of California, Oregon, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Montana, Iowa, Delaware, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Maryland, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have the rights above and may appeal a denial by replying to our response email.
8.4 You may designate an authorized agent with written proof of authorization.
8.5 We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
9. Children and Minors
9.1 The Service is not intended for children under 13. Every signup requires affirmative age confirmation. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we obtain actual knowledge that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
9.2 Users between 13 and 17 may only use the Service with permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, a user in this age range represents that the required permission has been obtained. We may require verification of parental consent and may suspend accounts where consent cannot be verified.
9.3 Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided personal information may contact support@askpillar.ai for deletion.
10. Safety and Crisis
10.1 PILLAR is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis or considering harming yourself or others, contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the U.S.) or dial 911.
10.2 PILLAR surfaces 988 and 911 information on request and may do so automatically in response to certain inputs. Automated behavior is imperfect. PILLAR does not guarantee detection, does not guarantee response by any human, and does not act as or replace an emergency responder. You must not rely on PILLAR for emergency response.
10.3 In rare circumstances where we reasonably believe there is an imminent risk to life, we may disclose information to emergency responders as permitted by law.
11. Data Security
11.1 We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit, encryption at rest for database records, access controls, authentication requirements, and audit logging.
11.2 No method of transmission or storage is fully secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by law.
11.3 Sensitive inputs and PHI. You agree not to submit Protected Health Information (as defined under HIPAA) or other data regulated by laws PILLAR does not undertake to comply with. PILLAR employs reasonable technical and procedural measures to detect and discourage apparent PHI inputs, but these measures are imperfect, and you are responsible for the content you submit.
12. United States Only
12.1 The Service is operated from and hosted in the United States and offered only to U.S. residents. Do not use the Service from outside the United States.
13. Cookies
13.1 We use strictly necessary cookies to maintain your session. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser; some features may not work.
14. Changes
14.1 We may update this Policy. Material changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance by email to active users. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
