How PILLAR Uses AI to Generate Guidance

Last updated: August 2026

What is processed when you ask PILLAR a question, and the controls you have.

Scope

This page covers the PILLAR consumer app. It describes what PILLAR does in its own systems, and it identifies where third-party AI providers process content in order to generate a response. Those providers' training and retention terms are their own, set by them and not by PILLAR, and this page makes no claims about them. For how PILLAR handles information generally, read the Privacy Policy.

PILLAR uses AI to generate Scripture-grounded guidance. This page explains how that works: what is processed when you ask a question, how memory works, where Scripture text comes from, and the controls you have.

How PILLAR generates guidance

PILLAR uses AI to generate guidance. When you ask a question in the app, the response you receive is produced by AI. AI-generated responses can be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. The Terms of Service describe your responsibility for evaluating them.

What is processed when you ask a question

When you ask PILLAR a question, PILLAR processes the following in order to generate a response:

  1. Your question.
  2. Relevant conversation context, such as earlier messages in the conversation.
  3. Account-bound memory, when you have memory turned on.

Your question and relevant conversation context may be processed by third-party AI providers in order to generate a response. Those providers process content on PILLAR's behalf. That is the providers' part; the rest of this section describes what PILLAR does in its own systems.

In its own systems, PILLAR applies privacy and safety controls around analytics, monitoring, and model requests.

Memory

PILLAR may use account-bound memory to inform responses when you have memory turned on. Memory is governed by a control in the app: open Settings, then Memory, to turn memory off or to clear it. Clearing memory asks you to confirm before anything is removed.

Scripture

Scripture text shown in PILLAR is retrieved through approved Bible-provider integrations. The AI model does not produce the Scripture text that PILLAR displays.

Your controls

  1. Turn memory off in Settings, under Memory.
  2. Clear memory in Settings, under Memory.
  3. Request account deletion by email, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  4. Ask us questions about this page at hello@askpillar.ai.
